General Submission Guidelines
* GDS only accepts submissions at set times, or submissions "windows" during the year, depending on our somewhat changeable publishing schedule. When submissions are open, the guidelines and cover sheets will be available here to download.
* Submissions sent outside the dates for each issue will not be considered - nor will they be returned. Easy, tiger. Wait for the window.
* GDS accepts work from writers and artists internationally. GDS is not a themed journal and has no restrictions regarding content or genre - we're interested in all points of view and subject matter.
* We only accept previously unpublished work for GDS. Please do not submit previously published or released material, or material being considered for publication elsewhere.
* We will accept up to three pieces for each issue from one author. If you send more, we will only consider the first three.
* Fiction should be no longer than 5,000 words. Poetry can be any length, but due to space constraints shorter works have a greater chance of publication. Sending us an epic poem would just be silly.
* Contributors to GDS are paid, in Australian dollars and in issue copies. Fees are subject to funding and may change issue to issue.
* When submitting for the spoken word CD, you may email or post us MP3 versions. Please bear in mind that if your work is selected, we will need high quality, raw sound files (wav or aiff) for publication.
* We'd like to recommend that you a) send your text or graphic submission to us electronically or, b) use recycled paper. Whether or not you do, will absolutely in no way at all influence whether your work is accepted — we're just suggesting that, for the good of trees and the planet and forests and so on, give it a try.

GDS News Updates
* If you have concerns about your ability to memorise our submission dates, and suffer from a morbid fear of diaries, sign up for the GDSnews and we will send you notification when submissions open - and a reminder before they close.
