‘This is the first blow as we go down swinging,’ wrote Kevin and Myron in the first Going Down Swinging editorial.
This maiden issue features poetry from soon-to-be regulars Eric Beach and Les Wicks, prose from Peter Anderson and Richard Tokatlian, an essay on short fiction in Australia by Kate Ahearne, as well as an accompanying interview with Peter Carey when he still kinda worked in advertising.
In the editorial, Kevin and Myron also state the uncertain future of the publication, though thirty-two years later we know this issue was only the first blow…
